These are my notes that I used to preach tonight's (1/21/2006)
I have uploaded it to http://www.onenessapostolic.org/audio
Have we not heard many frustrated people and may even ourselves have wondered how God could allow some of the things that go on in this world, the horrors of war and terrible things that happen to even innocent children? Have we not also heard those who would blame God for the evil that we see?
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
It is not God who is to blame but rather sin and the father of it. Many don't realize the godlike powers that God has given to them. Is it not one of the hardest things to get though to young people that they can destroy themselves and others without remedy? If young people could only realize that they have the power to do that which they cannot ever undo. How many in prisons would not give anything to just be able to undo one single thing that they did to another in the heat of the moment thoughtlessly?
Some wonder why some seem to get away with so much for so long, but consider this.
Luke 13:1 ¶ There were present at that season some that told him of the
whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
There is an important lesson there that I hope you will receive.
But now what I want to show you is that it was God's will for mankind to be living in paradise. Always remember that! God's will for Adam and Eve was for them to literally be frolicking and ruling in paradise. But God gave them great power and warned them not to misuse it.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created
he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29 ¶ And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Genesis 2:8 ¶ And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there
he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:16 ¶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of
the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
God warned the man not to eat of the forbidden fruit. It was man (actually woman) who chose to defy God and bring sin into this paradise world that God had created for them. Don't blame God for sin, that was mankind's choice to bring sin into the world and corrupt God's perfect paradise. God really gave mankind free will just as we have free will and great power to do good or evil. Some will say well why did God put that tree there, but how do we know that God might have had great plans for that to be a blessing to them in due season? There are plants on this Earth that are deadly poison if they are eaten before they mature.
We may never know what God had in mind for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil since man used his free will to STEAL from the forbidden tree.
Don't blame God for man's sin! Don't blame God for trusting man!
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Jesus here reveals that He is the Jehovah God of the Old Testament (notice the "I said", eh?). Don't misunderstand that verse, but consider, does not man not have the power to create life and to kill? God gave mankind a measure of "god like" power. How many are sitting now for the rest of their lives in prison because they made a bad decision and used their "god like" power to destroy.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
I would point out that neither man or woman is three separate persons and when we find any that are we lock 'em up or medicate them to protect them and society. God is NOT three separate persons regardless of which false-church says so.
Sin is not fair. Sin was not the will of God. One person drives drunk and an innocent family gets killed on the highway, is that fair? No, but you better believe it happens.
The enemy is sin. Everything from bad breath to pimples to road rage to false churches to robbery and murder all the way to the distinctive aroma of an old wet dog to tooth decay you can trace it all back to sin. Anything that is evil or even unpleasant is the result of man choosing to bring sin into the world.
Proverbs 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
How many women have destroyed their own homes and security with their own hands (or in many cases mouths, and that can be said of men and women.)
How many use their "god like" power of speech to tear down and destroy without really intending to?
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things.
Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
(Of course that is not talking about people obeying Gal 1:8 and cursing false preachers, but that is a different topic.)
You want to hear something really scary, pay close attention here:
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak,
they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
We need to be very careful what we say. If we knew a celestial tape recorder was running that would be played before God Himself would we talk any differently? Well guess what?
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
2 Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
Of course "conversation" means much more than "speech" in the above verse but that does not mean that it excludes speech in any way.
Many underestimate the "god like" power that they have with simply their speech. Are men not convicted of crimes based upon the words of witnesses?
Many will be familiar with this next verse:
Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Why is that so important? It is because of the power we have to do both good and evil. So many young people are ensnared by the devil because they do not grasp the concept of the power they have to do things that cannot ever be changed and the devil deceives them into destroying their lives and often several other people's.
Did not God speak the world into existence? We, created in the image of God need to be aware of the power of our words and our great responsibility.
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
That does not mean that we are "God" at all. But God did make man in His image and He gave man free will to do good or evil, but man chose to defy God and brought sin into the world.
If this seems like a stretch consider, would you be here if a couple of people had not used their "god like" power to make a baby?
This is not something that gets preached very often and can be misunderstood, but it is important for people to realize their great power AND the responsibility and consequences that will result. Just consider the magnitude of suffering over the years that can be traced back to Eve and Adam and their "error in judgment" or momentary lapse or whatever...
Was the issue of the forbidden tree just a "matter of conscience"? (excuse my little dig against the loose preachers of this hour who want to relegate obedience of the Bible to a "matter of conscience" in their bloated, pride engorged, measure themselves by themselves, corrupt organizations).
If you remember nothing else of what you have heard tonight I want you to really remember that it was man and not God who chose to bring sin and all the suffering that comes with it into the world. Don't blame God for sin; that was your ever so distant relative who made that decision! Why would anyone want to blame God for something one of their relatives did, eh?
So there is another thing I want you to remember and that is the Acts 2:38 salvation plan. I don't want to give you a sermon about sin without giving you the way to escape.
God Himself wasn't happy with the situation that man was in so He came in the flesh and paid with his own Blood to redeem or "buy back" whosoever will choose to avail themselves of his offer.
1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
God made a way for men to be free from sin and it was offered on the birthday of the Church, on the Day of Pentecost when the man with the keys from Jesus Himself unlocked the doors of heaven when he preached Acts 2:38
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you
in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the
gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Don't blame God for what a couple of your ancestors did.
Acts 2:38 is the Biblical plan of salvation for as many as God will call.
And, don't forget about that celestial tape recorder either.
